Non-alcoholic spirits

My fellow connoisseurs, what are your thoughts on this new trend?

Here’s a refreshing mocktail recipe that combines tangy citrus flavors with a hint of sweetness:
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (or honey)
  • 1/2 cup sparkling water
  • Orange slice and mint sprig for garnish
    Instructions:
  • Combine the orange juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup in a pitcher. Stir until the simple syrup is dissolved.
  • Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  • When ready to serve, fill a glass with ice.
  • Pour in the chilled orange-grapefruit mixture.
  • Top with sparkling water.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and a mint sprig.
    Enjoy!

I don’t mind mocktails, but I won’t touch near beer. My experience from AA is that it is like someone dealing with the urge of wanting to cheat on their wife by going to a strip club instead. That stuff has caused a lot of relapses. I’ve yet to see anyone lapse over a Shirley Temple.

The minister of the village I grew up in had a drinking problem. One day my mate calls him ‘the exorcist’. I am like why?

He said ‘because spirits disappear in his presence’!

For me it’s empty calories. Alcohol is empty calories too but at least you get a buzz from that.
