No matter how you feel get up dress up show up and never give up

My father told me this and I think it is very true. Something I learnt from martial arts as a teenager was to never give up even when you have lost all stamina and have been deprived of things like food and sleep was to endure things and to have mental strength to Cary on learning most valuable things during this time. My health has really gone downhill over the last few years I’ve decided to get my health back together and eat healthy and go to the gym even though my condition has made this extremely hard and while I suffer I will endure the pain for a better tomorrow.

I hope you accomplish your goals. Sometimes there will be setbacks, so remember to get back on the horse when it bucks you off. That is what my dad told me right before putting me back on the horse that had just bucked me off.

I kid. He never made me get on that horse again.

I think your motto is a very american take on trying to improve oneself. Which is great if it helps you!
Here is the way I see it:
We do give up - all the time. Hold your breath under water, stuff more into your suitcase, squeeze out the last toothpaste, finding the lost kitty in the neighborhood - most things have limits. If you never give up looking for the kitty you will fall asleep on the street or die of exhaustion. If you stuff more and more into your suitcase it will burst or your things will break.

There are mornings I personally would not get up. I have worked my way from self hatred during annual suicidal depressions - to full self-accept. I still work on being a better person, but there is no bar.

We all have to give in to death in the end - the only other way is to actively seek it out. You are not solid - therefore you will die, you are not static - therefore your next meal can be healthy.

Accept for your physical body is especially important, as we all hold some amounts of health and youth that will fade away with time. Your physical body is in this moment keeping you alive, therefore you should work out, but maybe on a trampoline, to have fun, because it is all temporary and worth loosing.

I think that (maybe not for you but especially for children) this American saying ‘never give up’ can be overshadowing self-accept. I never felt good about my accomplishments, even if they were impressive, until I worked on acceptance.

I am still a dark, nihilistic person, it does not really interfere.

A famous man once said, "'90% of success is just showing up"
A good attitude helps too…
