Nicotine smoking helps in negative symptoms?

I’ve also seen a few articles saying nicotine could be one of the factors in developing schizophrenia

As a general rule, stimulants are bad for people with schizophrenia. I know that when I smoke, my positive symptoms flare up slighty, often as I take a puff things will become fuzzy and unclear. If I quit, it could make things a lot worse though.

The bad severely outweighs the good, unfortunately. The good seems to be just a little help with sensory gating from what i’ve seen. However worse positive symptoms, significantly longer average hospital visits, cancer, it’s not a good idea.

I already smoked, and I don’t quite know what’s wrong with me yet, so i’m going to keep myself stable and consistent, but its a bad idea if you never started.
