Nicolas Cage 'channeled late mum's schizophrenia' in terrifyingly dark new role

Hollywood does it again. A schizophrenic serial killer or something.

You’d think that someone with a family member afflicted with the illness would do something to reduce stigma?

Even my mom who has known me since forever and never saw me hurt anyone, suspects many murderers of having undiagnosed psychosis.

Disappointing? Yes.

Surprising? Nope.

Well, the article did say that he credited his mother for his creative streak. I haven’t done enough research to confirm that the article is true, but maybe he feels he is doing what he can from the inside of Hollywood.

I’m sick of this
When is the movie industry going to stop portraying schizophrenic characters as being murderers and monsters!

Yeah I never liked Nicholas Cage and yes he should know better.

That’s inspiring though, the article said his mother lived until she was 85.

I read the article and I am surprised his mom lived to be 85 years old. Anyone know if she was on antipsychotics?? Did they give antipsychotics to patients who were institutionalized back then in the 1960s and 70s when she was. I read she received shock treatment. Do you think she was also on antipsychotics also?

If she lived till she was 85, there’s a good chance she wasn’t on an antipsychotic

What the â– â– â– â–  does channeling schizophrenia mean

This is offensive to me and I’m not easily offended

He acts crazier than I ever have, in almost every one of his movies.

Even the movies dat are supposedly showing sz in a good light, don’t really. Think of a beautiful mind, he’s displayed not to be trusted with his baby and wudda killed it if his wife didn’t come to the bath on time.

I think that one of the most positive portrayals of paranoid schizophrenia, although science fiction, that I’ve seen, was in “Firefly” and “Serenity.” That was quickly cancelled. And, even that character cut someone inappropriately once, and beat up people in a bar another time.

True story: Nic Cage and I are eskimo brothers. ok, maybe not 100% lol, but I hooked up with a girl in high school who later went on and did a sex scene with Cage in the movie Dog Eat Dog

Anyways, I will not be watching this movie for a variety of reasons
