I’m feeling happy. We finally got our new-to-us van. It’s a 2012 Kia Sedona lx. We went out for a drive yesterday and it was super nice after 6 months of needing to ask for rides to go on our own.
It’s been a chore just getting it. We paid for it 3 weeks ago, but the car lot had a lot of repairs to make. The person that traded it in had lied about the condition. The car lot didn’t inspect before letting us buy it, so they ended up selling to us for 4k and then turning around and paying more than that to fix it.
Sort of feel bad for them, because it’s like they paid us to take it. We’re getting way more out of the deal than them. But, as my friend told me, thats what happens when you don’t inspect first.
So anyway, it rode very smoothly. Its a bit tighter for passengers than our old one. However it does have more cargo room. The cargo area is recessed i to the floor so that the back bench seat can fold onto the floor.
It also will connect to our phones, which is the first time we’ve had something that will. I’m really thrilled and hoping it lasts a while. Goodness knows we haven’t had good luck with a vehicle in a while.
Ive always though kias were a really great buy. I like their style and it seems like you can get great deals on even luxury/really nice cars without paying a fortune.
@Jonathan2 it seems to do well on gas even with that size. We went over 40 miles yesterday and the gaige didn’t move after we filled it. It is supposed to get 21 mpg.
@POET I’ve always wanted a Kia. Everything I’ve read says they are reliable.
@shutterbug yep. Ours has a basic lcd display, like old cell phones with the grey background and black words. Nothing like rhe newer fancy screens. But its still pretty neat since none of the previous had anything like this.
I was trying to figure out how to set the clock on the stove at our new place. Turns out you need to download and install the Samsung SmartThings app. It then connects your stove to your WiFI so you can set the time. Seems … excessive.
Wow.
Coincidentally I’m here at the dealership now to fix my Fiat, needs vacuum pump, gasket and an o ring — runs me 800 dollars now I’m broke again, my stimulus checks are officially spent almost completely – hopefully I will receive some money on my W2s —
Cars are expensive, I had to ask my girlfriend if she can help me with gas, I might be able to get my bank account up again soon…
Anyway…
Congratulations on your new van, hopefully it works out for you
