New Research Links Cognitive Factors to Daily Functioning in Schizophrenia

The patient group had markedly lower scores in the m-TTT concerning complexity, creation process, and overall performance

I intend to rub this study in the face of every person who tells me that my SZ makes me more creative from now on. No it does not. I do what I do in spite of having SZ, not because of it.

An interesting read. I have the very typical, but not universal adaptive, autistic adaptive functioning < IQ gap. I struggle with the everyday practical tasks that most take in their stride. Whether sz/sz-a impacts on that even more, in an ‘increases the struggle even more’ way., I wouldn’t like to say. If anyone from here was to spend a week living with me, they’d see a very different me than the one that posts here. IMO poor executive functioning skills are the most disabling. They certainly are for me. Some have suggested I may have ADD, not ADHD. That was based on comments I made. At my age though - 1. No health professional would take me seriously. 2.It’s too late to reverse much of the damage,if true. I do sometimes wonder how I’d be on Ritalin. Would it take away that 20 TVs on at the same time each showing a different programme feeling that I can, and do, experience?

I’ve never believed that SZ makes a person more creative.

That is because you are one of the most intelligent people here.

It doesn’t. Most evidence shows schizophrenics are just as creative as normal people.

I do think however that it may be a possibility that creative people tend to get schizophrenia more often. Just an opinion.

I could take good photos before I got schizophrenia.

I’m bipolar and people expect me to be the next Vincent van Gogh, I can’t even draw anything beyond stick characters.
