Pets are wonderful.
Good luck with ed @cbbrown!
I will get another dog when I am better but not now.

I think there are not many things more healing than taking care of animals.

When I was really sick, a schizophrenic friend of mine asked me to take his dog when he died (he was terminally ill). He promised me that taking care of the dog would help me. I had the dog for over 4 years after Joshua died and he was such a goofy little blessing. It was good for me to have a reason to go for a walk, get out of bed and sometimes even just drive around because he liked it. I miss that little guy. He was probably the best therapy I ever had. Good luck to you; pets are great.

I think pets help a lot. I’ve actually become a lot more stable since getting my rats because they stop my spiraling, if things are getting too crazy I let them out and play with them and it totally helps ground me.

What kind of animal is Ed? I have a cat named Simba. He is wonderful. I love him so much. I’ve had him for the last nine years. He is 14 years old. He is a cream orange tabby. Beautiful. He is part of my therapy.

About 3-4 months ago I got a lab puppy. He has definitely lifted my depression. When I focus on him, giving him a belly rub or playing tug of war everything else goes away.

He is probably why I have been less active on the forums.

I have a cat named Emma. She’s maybe 5 - 6 years old. She likes to play, and her favorite dinner is tuna.

She’s a very sweet and sensitive kitty.

Edward Nubs is a crested gecko, i got him from someone on a reptile classifieds site. we call him mr.nubs since he is missing his tail and the tail won’t grow back.

Can we see some photos of Ed @cbbrown?
That would be really neat

This is a picture of Ed and my partner. Did you know crested geckos don’t have eyelids?

Animals are the universal meds.

Awww cute gecko! I have new pets too - more goldfish and a budgie and they definitely make me feel better. It’s soothing to watch the fish and uplifting to talk to my bird. I play Scrabble with him too lol!

my in laws got a couple of new pets too. their little girl bought her own guinea pig and supplies. and my partner bought them a budgie named lovie. its a small little baby that is green and yellow around the face. but my in laws are still talking about getting another dog. which i don’t like since i am the one who takes care of them most of the time and i am the only one who cleans up the dog turds.

Oh I love your new pet it is very cool…

My big house is a duplex…my gfs best friend is in the other part of the house… Our land lord said no pets… My gfs best friends…bf… Has PTSD too… he got a ball python and got it registered as a companion animal…the land lord didn’t argue about it… So if I get my disability I will get a baby hedgehog and carry him with me everywhere…I’m very excited about this…

Sounds awesome, I love hedgehogs. But reptiles are important to me. Ed was a rescue talked the owner down from 70 to 25 dollars. He needed vet care but he is gaining weight finished up with his meds.
