Hey y’all. I’m a 26 year old guy that’s been diagnosed with psychosis for 8 years, and received my current diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder approximately 4 years ago. I stumbled across this site 3 years or so ago but never had the courage to join. I oddly remembered about this forum last night when I laid down to sleep and decided to join today.
Have recently been struggling really badly with my psychotic symptoms and have had three hospitalizations in the past two months. I hope I can offer some knowledge and support here as well as receive it. Hope everyone is doing well!
@Dreamer
You are brave! You are courageous for joining the forum, strong for sharing your story, humble for asking for support, and kind and generous for offering help. Thank you! You are needed here. You will offer vital support!
Were your hospitalizations helpful? Do you have help at home? Are you able to work?
The first two weren’t so helpful, this last one was a little. I’m still struggling with some symptoms. My symptoms tend to be religiously based as I was raised in a Christian home. I’ve been seeing angels today.
I have family that helps me out. I was forced to quit work after the first hospitalization roughly 6 weeks ago and go back on disability. It was the first full time job I’ve had and I only had it for 3 months, so I guess work isn’t an option right this moment.
I’m so sorry you had to leave your job. Sometimes it is just too much. Well done trying and giving it your all! You must have worked so hard to get there!
I’m also sad the first two hospital stays weren’t helpful. That’s disappointing. I celebrate with you that the last one was!
It is wonderful that your family is supportive! That makes a significant difference! I am a Christian and have found that not all Believers are helpful, but most have been.
Do you expect anymore medication changes? Do you expect to still hallucinate on meds?
Thank you. I was disappointed I had to quit. It did wonders for my self esteem.
I’m not sure if I’ll have anymore med changes. I’m classified as highly treatment resistant. The antipsychotic I’m on is the 10-12th different one I’ve tried with varying combinations of those 10-12. They either don’t work or I build up a tolerance. That even happened with Clozaril. Right now I’m in the Invega Sustenna injection.
