New job in a couple weeks

So I got a new job I guess I’ll be starting out as a landscaper. Pretty excited, I was doing peer support but didn’t really like it.

I have spent about 10 years of my life landscaping

It’s a decent trade to do!

Nice being outside and it’s very creative

Yes that’s exactly why I wanted to do it, not really in it for the money but I want to be outside and be active

My weight was very well managed when I did this kind of work.

So many benefits to this sort of work

That’s also another part of it, I was walking in the park and saw a group of landscapers both male and female and they looked like athletes haha

It’s hard work but very rewarding

Right on. I used to do exterior building cleaning. Windows, gutters, siding, concrete. It was pretty interesting, hard work and some fun dangerous stuff lol

How was your mental health doing landscaping?

Congratulations :tada:

I worked as an urban farmer in hydroponics it was really fun :metal:

Unfortunately Covid took the business away we were into exotic vegetable and dealers were hotels and restaurants. When they shutdown we had to close down.

It was good

I was self employed

The issue started when I hired someone and instead of letting that release pressure I increased speed

Money was good but I worked between 8am-4pm, visiting jobs 4pm-8pm and then doing paperwork until 8pm-11pm everyday

Did quotes on weekends

I did not give myself a break and I burned out

Ah my job coach also told when you are self employed you are kinda a slave to your work instead of showing up and doing your job

Damn that sucks, sounds like a cool job though

I would agree with that!

I went back to normal employment

But I was out of action for nearly a year before I got a good opportunity

That’s not too long, I have only been volunteering for the past 3 years

Hey joker did you jump into fulltime after that year? I have a talk on Monday for a placement with the recruiter and my jobcoach. I am bored out of my skull and just want to work 5 days.

I went straight back to full time

Told them I work remotely for them or not at all

Has been a good move disclosing and getting adjustments that actually make life a lot easier

That’s really good, I disclosed to but the company has a special program for people with mental health problems. They fund education and help you with re-entering.
Thanks for all the advice btw!
