New drawing based on me not doing well

I haven’t been doing well as usual for the past couple of weeks. Even more recently, I have been having to drink coffee multiple times a day to keep me motivated to do tasks that I used to be able to do easily. I decided to do this drawing of a coffee mug with coffee in it, and a spoon next to it. I know it’s not the best.

Thank you so much. I often try to make realistic drawings and I feel like I’ve definitely improved over the years, but I’m not yet as good as I want to be.

Thank you both. My goal was for it to look real. I have more drawings on here, but one of my best I’ve done would be this one that is in this reply.

I love this. And your other further down.

I wish I could draw like this. Have you been drawing all your life. ?

Yes, pretty much. Ever since I was very young I’ve always seemed to love art. I used to spend hours at a time alone in my room just drawing. I have a problem with being alone now, due to my schizophrenia, but if I didn’t have that problem I’d still probably be alone all the time doing art.

I really like your drawings, that’s some beautiful talent. Caffeine stimulates concentration, so it might be offsetting other meds you’re taking or otherwise helping you balance your daily experience. Of course, caffeine is addictive; the more we drink the more we depend on it. The body develops a greater tolerance for it, so we need more. And more. It also has side effects; jittery, stressed, and withdrawal from caffeine can make all that even worse. The recommended dose is maybe 2 cups a day. Anything more will eventually lead us to feeling worse.

Thank you for what you said about my art, and the tip. I try to limit myself to at most two cups a day, it’s just lately I’ve been needing around two cups a day to have motivation and like you said, to concentrate. I don’t feel like I’m addicted. Whenever I’m out of the house without drinking my coffee, I don’t have withdrawal symptoms. I mainly just need it when I’m trying to do something for a long period of time. I don’t feel like it gives me a lot of energy either, like it does for most people. Just motivation.

Thank you, I feel like many of us relate to each other some way or another on this site. It’s nice for a change to relate to someone, because I’ve only met one other person with schizophrenia in my life that I know of. Makes me feel alone sometimes, but this site helps with that.

That’s why your so good. You’ve been doing it all your life. I wish I could draw like this. Plus it would give me something to do in my alone time too.

I picked up some art pencils and pens. But still to get around to it. You could teach some people a lot u know, lots want to know how to draw.

Well I’m not a great teacher, but the only advice I know to give you is one you’ve probably already heard, which is practice. When I started drawing, I was awful when I look back at it now. Then when I look at my drawings in different years, I can definitely see improvement. I had one period of time where I was not doing well at all mentally or physically. In that time, I don’t feel like I drew a lot. Then when I started getting better, I drew more, but it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be because I hadn’t been practing. In this reply is a picture of an eye I drew probably about a year ago, and you can compare it to the one earlier in this thread. In just a year or so of practice, you can really improve. If you decide to start practicing art, good luck and I hope you get at the level of skill you want to be. . I hope you enjoy it.

There is a massive improvement. Both eyes are really good. But I can def see the improvement.
