Neuralink is going to test on humans

Well yeah. Opinions differ.

That’s good. Else we would all have the same car in the same color :grinning:

Now those are fighting words…It’s got to be red because it’s faster!!! :joy:

Mechanics who have worked on them have discovered serious flaws with how they are engineered and I’ve talked to a few. There’s also the fact that Tesla is prone to unleashing dangerous untested features on the general public:

I’d happily buy an EV from Volkswagen or Audi, but never Tesla. And that’s not even taking into consideration what a flaming douchenut Musk himself is.

Anyway. I know very little of cars.

My mom’s boyfriend does the technical inspection of cars here and knows a lot about it as well. He’s pleased with the car.

Was it only driven in malls?

They don’t do so well in the real world.

They don’t go off-road.

We’re going to drive with this car to Barcelona (1400 Km) next winter. So, I’ll be able to provide an update.

Consider that our roads are covered with sand and salt to provide traction for nearly half of a year. Drivers in cold climates like mine have a horrible time with that stuff building up inside their Teslas. Not a problem with other EVs like the Hyundai Kona, however.

Can someone please lock this creep on some desert island, where he can’t do harm? This scares me. There’s plenty ways to abuse this. And he is an idiot. I do not like scary techniques in the hands of idiots.

I’m sure he has many enemies.

But I haven’t seen anyone able to stop him.

I know. I wish they did. Not having any brilliant ideas either.

Maybe you can suggest he takes his SpaceX flight to mars.

Haha. That would be a great idea. Not entirely sure he’s going to listen to a random Dutch sz lady.

I think we are moving away from the topic here a bit. Lets stick to the neurallink for the time being. I think it’s hard not to have an opinion about our friend Elon.

I don’t even dare read the article. To be honest. I avoid triggering stuff. I see many ways to abuse it. And how it can cause harm. It already frightened the hell out of me, that people could force medication on me, that influenced my brain and mind so much. Neuralink and everything moving in that direction has so many scary possibilities…that I think as a society we want to re-think our view on such things real good and real quick. And see what we are willing to give our money and cooperation too…and what to put real strong human rights/laws in place against.

Edit: okay, I did read. He is speaking of telephaty and web browsing. And “…he was so confident in the devices’ safety that he would be willing to implant them in his children…”

Taking science to extreme is not so beneficial. More the need for scientific development, more the human race becoming less inclined to natural things. It creates lot of gap and source of creation that also contributes to other societal inequalities.

Einstein rightly said “I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots.”

Yeah it’s a valid point but technology is increasing ever so fast. The thing with AI is that possibly you can get incredible gains in a short amount of time. Whether a particular individual like Elon or a government is doing it it’s still something we all need to deal with.

Lets not let this dissolve into a slanging match or a witch hunt on a particular person. It’s going to happen no matter what simply due to the economic pressures and the way the world works.

Meanwhile lets get back to talking neuralink.

It’s not really the person I care about. Rather the whole part of society, with some leading figures, that mindlessly develops technology…without…any kind of ethical brake on it.

I think we should accept certain unhappy parts of life. Rather than go for the short term gains. Technology often has the tendency to give short term comfort, and wreck nature and humankind in the long run. Because our minds are too tiny to oversee the whole thing. So we improve one thing, and wreck fifty others in the process.

Yeah no argument but lets let the discussion open to others. We’ve both said our piece so for the sake of OP lets let it do it’s thing.

We are already there.

I was just looking into KarXT. It was intended as treatment for cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer’s. Turns out drug helped psychosis associated with Alzheimer’s. Which obviously translated to schizophrenia.

What I was saying was technological and scientific breakthrough result from something different. They are positive accidents. Searching for natural treatments are unlikely to have yields we expect.

Neuralink’s research can have such effect.
