Negative symptoms?

Does lack of motivation and lack of verbal expression count as one?

Yes, those are called avolition and alogia.

I was trying to respond to another one of your posts but it got locked. I’m only going to write this to you once so you don’t think I’m harassing you. I don’t hate your posts but I do think you will have to accept that you need medication to be well. That’s okay though. I have diabetes so I have to be on insulin, because if I don’t take it I will die. Medications for mental illnesses are harder to accept because you develop imbalances in your brain that don’t let you think clearly. It’s a long hard road. It took many years to find something that worked for me so that I could function with a clear head.

In terms of hating your posts I do not. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was about your age and it was hard to accept. I was in your shoes and struggling to accept that I needed outside help to be well. I hope you understand what I am saying. We are here for you while you journey through this, but it would be good to maybe consider what people are expressing here. Take care of yourself.

I understand what u mean but medication isn’t the only road to recovery

If you hang around here long enough you get an understanding about how important medication therapy really is.

If it’s sz then you need meds. It’s that simple. If it’s psychosis from other things…yes there are those issues then you may, in the end be able to come off the meds. If it’s sz and symptoms persist it’s usually meds for life and that is where you find most folk around here.

You don’t just think your way out of schizophrenia.

I’m aware but therapy is good too

Also I think my psychosis was caused by trauma and/or stress.

Therapy will only work when you’re ready for it.

You have Autism, so that will be a slight complication.

Worth pursuing therapy once you’re stable on the right med for a period of time.

Just my thoughts anyway.

I failed my first set of therapy sessions as I was pretty ill at the time. Went back to it with a clearer mind, and it did help somewhat.

Meds are important though. Once you get a bit older, or even maybe once you get your doctor and parents on your side, you can try the different AP’s to find one that suits you.

Not all hope is lost. This does not have to define you as a person

Well my doc wanted to try me on Geodon earlier but I wasn’t open to meds at that time so I went without meds… ended up in hospitalization though not psychotic

Also I think I’m ready for therapy now

If you think you are then that’s great.

Good luck with it.
