What I did to mitigate working memory issue, the ability to think etc for passing exams in school and college for math, logic related subjects is I memorized each and every step in problems and during exams I simply recall all the steps and write it. This technique you too can use to clear papers easily. Long term memory is not affected unless you take some drugs which worsens it like benzodiazepines certain antipsychotics, antidepressants at high dose etc. Choose medications at the lowest dose and try to manage rest of the issues using therapy or some other coping skills to minimize as much side effects of medications.
