My teacher made a mistake?

I wrote a 800 word essay for my Humanities class. There was a 150 points possible. I just got my score and my teacher gave me 190 points! WTF, lol? In all my years as a student including grade school and high school a teacher has NEVER given me more points than was possible on an assignment. To tell you the truth I didn’t even think it was my best work. I thought it was rambling and vague and aimless. But he’s a professor and he apparently liked it.

I noticed that a professor made a similar error today and had him correct it after class. No offense but I think it was an error, giving like ten extra credit points is different than forty.

I don’t think it was an error. Matter of fact, you should pat yourself on the back. I wouldn’t ask him about it either. Next thing you know you’ll be receiving a failing grade, which I doubt :sweat:

I just received a reply from him. He made a mistake. He thought the maximum score was 200. The REAL maximum was 150. He thanked me for pointing it out but I ended up with only a score of 140. Still an A.

@77nick77, 140 points is still a good grade, even you said you did not think it was your best work,and you still did great.Be proud of your grade, you still did great!

It is good that you can write essays, I have no written any in the past 20 years. I just write snippets.

Lol, yeah, some teachers get a little perturbed if you point out their mistakes.

always liked when mistakes are made in my favor…doesn’t happen too often though.
