I haven’t heard of Vraylar, but keep in mind if it is a new drug, that doesn’t make it the best. Personally, I wouldn’t take a drug that hadn’t been on the market for 2 and a half years unless there was no other option.

Go back on seroquel

Sorry but seroquel is making me tired depressed even more why are you suggesting this to me?

Dont look for the cure for negative symptoms in an antipsychotic, they have proven time and time again to be ineffective. A switch of antipsychotic is always in order however, if you feel better on the new scrap the old. or consider combining them, this is controversial but has worked for me,

But this drug works differently. The reason they’ve proven ineffective for these specific symptoms is that they don’t target the right receptors. It takes extremely long before new drugs are developed to target new disease models.

Some of this can be attributed to structural abnormalities too, neurotransmitters are not the only thing that is dysfunctional in negative symptoms

That’s what they say but it’s as simple as this: do people who are clinically mentally retarded because of brain structure abnormalities ever have days off where their iq is normal, in the 100-120 range? No, never. They only have bad days. Even if you give them various “smart” drugs they still perform very poorly.
But people with various schizotypal disorders do have days off where everything is pretty much as you’d expect it to be in terms of lacking symptoms .

I don’t understand how it is possible for someone with a malformed or dysfunctional brain to have good and bad days. Even look at drug users who have abused neurotoxic drugs, their cognitive issues are either consistent over a long term or they’re permanent, lasting throughout their lives.

@NoEmotions you are wrong, I am a retard every single day of my life,
exactly like clinically retarded persons.
I only have bad days.
If for you its different you are a very lucky man.
I can only dream of being normal, even for one day a month.

You misunderstood my point intentionally or unintentionally. There are people who have issues that never once go away but for the vast majority of schizophrenics (read literature) they have days where they relapse from their psychosis and pretty much all or at least selectively some symptoms.

Psychosis yes I have no psychosis now.
However, regarding the cognitive symptoms there is no reprieve.
I think that the issue of synaptic pruning, of connections in the brain,
that is what I feel I am missing.
I have schizophrenia.

Again, literature reveals that it is normal for schizophrenics to have “time off” from all their symptoms whether negative, cognitive or positive, but that time off can be with one specific symptom the one day and another symptom another day.

Now, to your amazement, it is possible to regrow at least some synapses, this is an area of research for treating various neurodegenerative diseases. So you shouldn’t be too depressed about your situation even if it turns out you’re unfortunate to have the disease model of excessive synaptic pruning  the future is bright

As far as I’ve understood, excessive synaptic pruning is more relevant to schizotypal personality disorder patients than schizophrenia …

I’m happy for you that your cognitive symptoms appear, from what you write to be relatively mild( I hope so).
For me, I don’t care anymore, in the past I wanted to be cured, now I feel that it makes no difference to me,
I am completely worn out.

Folks, just a reminder that these days use of the word “■■■■■■” is considered inappropriate because in the past it has frequently been used as a pejorative term.

He was using it the right way. Not pejoratively. He was just describing his condition.

Nevertheless, it’s an inappropriate term to use these days. I just wanted to make sure that non-native English speakers were aware of this.

Intellectually disabled would be the more appropriate term to use.
