I went to see my pdoc today, I told her that I was feeling a bit agitated and my anxiety, especially my OCD was on the high side. I asked her if she could prescribe me something to calm things down a bit.
I suggested a Mood stabilizer - Depakote - I asked if she would give me something else.
My psychiatrist said that more meds would not be the solution, if need be I could take extra Klonopin, but she said that more meds could mess up my physical health more or cause other side effects - she is a psychiatrist who is very cautious with handing out medications. It seems like she is very reluctant prescribing new medications.
She suggested non medication treatments for my OCD like Yoga, CBT (which I am doing) and Mindfulness etc…
I am kind of pleasantly surprised to be seeing a psychiatrist who knows the dangers of these medications.
This is the first psychiatrist that does not hand out meds like they were candy - Its refreshing actually!
