My nephew is a big pot head

I love my nephew to pieces.
Such a smart and genuinely good kid.

He’s 20 years old now and studying to be an engineer in a good college.

My only concern is that he smokes A LOT of weed!

He looks like Jesus, tall long hair and full beard.

His Mom smokes weed with him which I don’t think is very helpful.

My brother seems to be a bit more strict with everything.

Am I being overly concerned?

He’s got a history of depression and anxiety and may be a bit autistic.

My father thinks I’m being old fashioned.

In my state weed is legal.

I’ve seen weed do damage before. People think that just because they can still function the weed isn’t hurting them. They could probably function higher if they didn’t smoke weed.

The thing that bothers me the most is that he’s also dabbling in harder drugs like shrooms.

I don’t think that this is a good thing.

Ruddy Hell. Just make him acutely aware hes playing with fire as regards to his mental health - nevermind its a gateway drug - and theres a history of MI in your family.

If he was in his 40’s i wouldnt be so concerned, but at that age - his brain is still developing.

He’s 20 years old. I wouldn’t be concerned about him smoking weed. But I do think it’s concerning that his mother smokes weed with him.

No, definitely not very responsible. And it makes you wonder how good or bad his childhood actually was.

The stuff has been proven to be detrimental before age of 25 while your brain is still doing neural pruning, it can cause it to prune the wrong areas. He’s likely to take an IQ hit from it. Sad.

Yeah I’m aware of this but I have very little control over his actions.
But I may talk to my brother very carefully about it before it’s too late.

It would be a shame, the kid is a genius.

I’m a pot head and I used to think that I caused my illness to come upon me…my pdoc said it only ascerbates when you will get ill if you are schizophrenic…I smoked pot in my early and late teens and I turned out o k…

I think it would be a good idea to explain to him the link between schizophrenia and weed, and remind him that schizophrenia runs in the family.

He’s very stubborn.

Yeah, I hear you. We can’t make people’s decisions for them. Sucks to watch someone do something when you know it will hurt them, but sometimes people need to learn from their own mistakes.
