My mother in law fell, she's in the hospital now

Works like a hot damn for dodging jury duty.

“The voices will tell me if he’s guilty.”

I had a friend who didn’t want to go to the army, but in my country it was mandatory unless you flunked 1/3 tests: physical, intelligence, and psychological. He aced the first two, so his last shot was the psych evaluation. One of the opening questions was “have you ever heard voices?” so he goes “I do hear one that keeps telling me to kill folks, but that’s normal, right?”
Needless to say, they decided his services were no longer required

I’m so sorry. Is she in a cast yet? Can she walk? Is she wheelchair bound? Do you have stairs? This is all such a mess. Definitely talk to them hospital social worker and ask how to get help. They’ll be able to help you set up at home nursing and give ideas for nursing homes.

She’s not in a cast yet because she probably needs surgery.

The doctor actually wanted us to go to an appointment in his office,

He must be crazy.

Yes, we have stairs, and it was a circus getting her up them to her room.

We can’t do that again.

She was using a walker, but I’m sure she’ll be wheelchair bound now.

Hopefully, a nursing home is the answer,

But for right now it looks like my husband and I are just going to be in Hell.

That’s terrible. Like, seriously, is your husband still not seeing this isn’t manageable?

Yes.

He’s (my husband) talking about rehab and nursing facilities with her right now.

I went through it with mother. My sister put her in a nursing home the Summer of 2010. I was put out of mother’s house the Fall of 2008. Mother lived until the Winter of 2018 when she died. I live alone now.

She’s back in the hospital.

Her other leg may be broken too.

At least they’ll admit her this time (according to her doctor).

What did she fall over? To get such bad breaks?

Nevermind, I just reread the OP

Jfc are these doctors even examining her?

Apparently they are not doing a great job at the ER,

Which is why we called her doctor and had him all the ER to prepare for her this time.

I don’t know why they botched things so bad last night,

But hopefully we’ll get it corrected today.

omg, how awful for everyone…so sorry.

I hope they give her the care she needs, but also put her into a proper managed care setting so you get the respite you badly need. That would be the ideal outcome.

My husband has finally come around about long term care.

He realizes we can’t take care of her anymore.

She’s still in the hospital,

I won’t get into details, but she’s pretty bad off.

So bad, they can’t do the surgery to fix her broken leg.

I’m glad my husband is finally on board with this,

I hope we get a good result for everybody.

I am sorry your mil is so ill but glad everyone’s best interests are being realised and she will get her care needs met in a different setting.

Big hugs @GoldenRex

I’m so glad hubby is on your side. She needs long term care that you are not obligated or can provide. She needs to be in a different place. I do hope she improves quickly. Broken bones are hard to heal if you have health problems.

What a relief that he’s on board with a facility! You must be thrilled!
