My mattress (on the floor) where I sleep, already nearly 13 years

Before diagnosis I lived on a mattress on the floor for years. Just never bought a bed whilst share housing in Brisbane so didn’t really feel the need to invest in a bed.

It was kinda weird in a way because the spare room in one house had a single bed frame and a baby mattress.I still slept on the floor and did it for like 3 years.

Oh the memories.

Yeah, in my first group home when I was 19 they put me in a tiny room where I slept on a dirty mattress on the floor for a year and half, I had no choice. It wasn’t the nicest place.

Actually sleeping on a mattress on the floor is much more comfortable than sleeping on the front seat of a car as I did over two years in America. I bought this Jerusalem’s Western Wall picture today (just a couple of €s).

aw man, this makes me a bit sad for you…why don’t you buy a bed?

I could buy a bed any time I would like to, but I do not want to buy a bed. I like to sleep on my mattress on the floor, I also like to sit my legs crossed on my mattress, do not feel bad or sad for me. When I had shipped my car to Antwerp, Belgium in April 2002 I slept one month on the lawns of Miami Beach when I waited for my flight to Brussels, Belgium. I am okay, it may sound strange, but I am okay.

‘Sleeping on a mattress on the floor is a common practice in many cultures around the world. It is particularly prevalent in Asian countries such as Japan, China, and Korea, as well as in some parts of South America and Africa.’
