im going to get some proper plastic clamps and clamp the wire to the wall

I guess stapling it down is better than nothing. Having it just hanging on the outside loose is not good but really, its either supposed to be inside a wall or be protected by emt.

Code is different everywhere too, but as far as I know, thats pretty standard for a basment in the US. Here, exposed romex is only allowed in the ceiling 8 foot above the floor in the basement I think. But I am not an expert. I’m both out of date and don’t know it all.

Here is an example of what I ran in this houses basement for my parents like 12 or 14 years ago.

I just wanted to deal with the hazard without any knowledge, tools or materials.

Just to annoy you further, looking at it closer,…it really also should have a connector where the cable comes into the box. Since there is no emt…one of those little black button connectors would probably be the best/easiest choice.

Not trying to annoy you too much

Edit:

i realize that, the box has rough edges

Honestly, when I saw your tape rig job, @anon60704399 , my first thought was a safety concern with heat build up under that tape. I dont know though. They only allow you so may wires in conduit and such because of heat issues and such and that is taped directly to the wall, but Idk.
