My Luna showed me today, that she would protect me in case of attack. We were walking and this man was wrestling with another woman and her small dog. Apparently his dog was attacking a smaller dog and I tried to help get the dogs apart, well the guy tried to hold my shoulders to get me away from his dog and my Luna grabbed his pant leg and pulled him off. She then got between us and was trying to scare him away. It was bad though, the poor small dog was bleeding bad, I had to stand back because the guy didn’t want anyone near his dog. It was crazy. I had to walk away to keep my dog from getting involved. My heart is racing. I saw the lady run off, holding her dog in her arms, so I think she pulled them apart.
that’s really sad and traumatic for you I’m sure…I’m sorry this happened…a german shepard in the neighboring fence back yard when I was 12 dug under the fence and attacked my “curly” dog…almost tore his back leg off…I was sick with fear and worry…dad took him to the vet and they stitched him up but I plotted to hurt that german shepard if he ever got in the yard again…never happened…dad reinforced buried wire under the fence adjacent to the german shepard’s yard.
Oh yes, I was crying the whole way home. Poor pup, I hated hearing it begging for help. I really hope her baby’s ok. If I ever see her walking again, I’m going to invite her for pie and tea. I’m sorry about your curly dog. I’m glad it never happened again. I’ll be fine, just taking a few sips of water and holding my pillow.
Omg how traumatic. Glad you and your doggie are ok! Dogs can be unpredictable and that is pretty scary.
Thanks, yes I wish those dog owners would socialize their pets. I socialized my Luna from a pup, so she’d learn to be kind to other doggies. She plays with all the dogs and cats she meets when we’re out. She loves curling up on cats, which I think is the funniest. I think she likes how their fur feels…lol
I once kept two dogs who absolutely despised each other. I had to keep them separate- one in and one out or one in the crate, etc. They only fought twice when we weren’t as careful as we should have been, but they never hurt each other, just locked jaws. I can’t imagine how terrifying that would be for you.
My current dog had been well-socialized (she used to be a show dog), but she doesn’t get along with every dog. I don’t think she’d ever hurt another dog. She’s never fought or even growled. When she was young, she would chase cats that ran past, back when we fostered cats. I don’t think she’d bother now; all she does is sleep.
Luna sounds like a good dog.
I had a friend who baby sat a friends two dogs - a German Shepard and a cairn terrier. They had known each orher for years (the dogs) and got on no problem.
Anyway within hours of the dog owner leaving the German Shepard attacked his little dog friend and almost killed it.
I would have been traumatised if that was me babysitting the dogs
