My Disability Support Pension claim was granted

Hi everyone. For the last year and a half I had been jumping through hoops to get Disability. Finally today it was approved. Very happy that the psychiatrists and even the Australian government acknowledge that I’m unwell and it really feels good to have that recognition.

Just thought I’d share some good news. Hope everyone is doing as best they can.

Thanks very much guys. It’s much appreciated.

Do I have any fellow Australians here who are on the DSP? Just wondering what to expect as I only got written confirmation with no real info on what to expect as far as reviews and basically how it all works.

Well done. I’ve been on disability for years now and I worry about the younger people not getting it or being put on unemployment etc. It’s good to have the pension to back you up. Living without a lot of stress is a good thing so well done to you.

I get paid every fortnight on a wed. People have different days but they should backpay you from date of grant. Just goes into bank account and all easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I am on disability pension in Australia and it’s one of the best things to ever happen to me.

I volunteer work a few hours if I want which I do.

Thanks for the reply. Glad it works out well for you, I hope it’ll do the same for me. Are there any types of reviews or reassessments? Just wondering if it’s permanent or based upon a renewal system

Thanks again

Thanks for the reply. Might look into some volunteer work myself. Glad it helps you get by.
