My daughter is having a mental health crisis

She has depression, anxiety, and PTSD. She’s physically sick too and with her dad right now since she already exposed him. Anyway, she and I talked, then she and her dad talked and we’re trying to see if she needs to go to the ER. I’m thinking the day program would be best for her unless she has a plan to commit suicide so that’s what we’re trying to ascertain right now. She’s having major repeated flashbacks and panic attacks. Not good

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that :disappointed:

Sounds like a lot is accumulated for her today.

Dif you guys find out what was happening with her lungs?

Yes. She has a virus that triggered her asthma. She hasn’t needed an inhaler for over 10 years so we didn’t realize that’s what it was

Is she on beta blockers? I highly suggest them if she isn’t.

I’m so sorry she is so sick…you must be upset.

No @Speedy . She’s only on Zoloft. I’m thinking now that she’s in crisis people might take her seriously and hopefully she’ll get the treatment she needs.

I am @jukebox . But, she’s been mentally ill for a long time. For the first time I’m actually feeling hopeful because her dad is finally seeing how badly she needs help and is now on board as of today. He’s always been opposed to treatment and meds so it’s been a nightmare trying to get her proper help

Yes! And I’m sorry about your daughter. Ask her doc to prescribe her Propranolol. It should help her PTSD and panic- attacks.

I have PTSD and propranolol didn’t help me at all. But we can mention it and see what they say

Ok! Yes, I know. But it’s the only drug found to alleviate triggers through fear extinction alongside CBT.

Again I’m sorry. Hopefully she’ll get the help she needs!

I’m so sorry. It must be heartbreaking to see your own child suffering. Hopefully a hospital stay will help stabilize her symptoms.

Hugs. Stay strong.

Thanks @Montezuma . She’s at the ER now with her dad. She texted me to say she loves me. I asked her if she wants me to come and meet her. I’m waiting to hear from her. I’m actually relieved because I’m thinking she might finally get the help she needs.

I’m home from the ER. My daughter is still there. They’re going to have her talk to a psychologist in the morning who will determine if she should be admitted or not.

She was throwing things and screaming, then quiet, then crying, then anxious, then laughing…. All unprompted. I think she’s having a psychotic break but I’m not sure. Anyway, she finally calmed down when they gave her antianxiety meds through an iv. They didn’t say what med. I’m leaving first thing to go back to the ER to be with her until they decide what they want to do. She said she hasn’t slept 2 nights in a row so they said they’d give her something to sleep tonight.

Hugs ma’am.

It sounds like your poor daughter is going through hell. Hopefully they’ll admit her into an inpatient program.

Take care of yourself, and thank you for the update.
