My 600lbs life show

In my case my heart is getting weaker and I can no longer afford it being enveloped in pericardial fat. That is why I have Saxenda and I am doing what I can inside my own limits to drop weight. My cardiologist is pleased with my progress and I’m feeling a lot better, so I’m happy with where I’m at and where I’m going. I’d like to wake up at a normal weight tomorrow but that’s not going to happen. I just need to keep setting and hitting my small weight loss and exercise goals.

One thing about the show is dr now is a bit rude with some of the patients HOWEVER he’s trying to save there life and he doesn’t give up on them one of them was the rudest person I’ve ever even seen two of them one guy and a completely other girl I couldn’t believe there attitude Jesus man he’s trying to help he’s not a punching bag Lisa and Sean are the ones I’m talking about idk how to spell there last names but Sean also had a brother on the show at the same time

Yea he is a bit rude but one thing is… He’s probably seen so many people die dude. Like all these people he sees probably a lot of them die. They say the success rate even with the surgery is 5%!!! Yes 5%

Meaning 95% of people who get the surgery continue overeating and probably die an early death. All the people he meets on a daily basis and talks with are dying off like flies. I’m sure that contributes to his attitude… Maybe he has survivors guilt or something

I love that show! It’s really motivational at times. I’ve lost about 90 pounds since last February

How did you do it fox?

the more you weigh the quicker you lose weight. in order to maintain 600 lbs they probably eat 10x the amount of food they should, so when they start eating healthy amounts they lose weight faster than a 300 lb person would lose weight if they stopped eating altogether

@POET i started on a 1500 calorie a day diet. I did that from May 2023-March 2024. Lost 60 pounds that way. Then I transferred to a keto diet from March till now and lost an additional 30 pounds

Some of those people were consuming at least 10,000 calories per day. Putting them on a 1500 calories plan will shock the system and they will lose rapidly at first. I like following the updates post surgery because it’s all about losing weight for surgery in the episodes, but what matters is losing more and then maintaining. These people have severe food addictions, so it’s not just about diet changes but also getting behavioral therapy to find healthy ways of coping with stress or mental health issues. Watching these people blossom with better physical and mental health changes is really inspiring.

What do you think of Dr. Now?

I think he hit a point several seasons in where he stopped taking crap from his patients like, full stop. He really holds them to a standard if they want to get thinner.

Are you asking me?

Oh just anyone in the thread. I guess I was surprised no one brought him up yet.

Sometimes to be honest he comes off a little mean to me, but he does this a lot so I guess he’s more routine about it.

I like him.

He calls them out when they’re not honest,

And he even calls out the people (usually relatives) he sees allowing or encouraging that lifestyle.

I used to think he was too harsh. But I noticed after a while that he can smell bs a mile away. With the liars and manipulators he is hard on them, because he thinks they are there just to be on the show and don’t want to really change. He is much kinder with the ones who are truly trying and struggling. I think, anyway.

What’s really the most amazing about that show is the change of family dynamics when someone is going through that process.

I’m appalled by how many spouses want their partner to be 600lbs for whatever reason.

Usually because they feel they’ll leave them or because they don’t know what to do outside of caregiving.

I remember one episode in particular where the woman who was overweight met her husband on a dating site for men who had a fetish for massively overweight women.

During the course of the show she divorced him, moved out with her daughter and is one of the very few people I’ve seen on that show get down to what I would call average size.

She looked fabs.

It’s also my observation that about 90% of the women featured on that show were victims of childhood sexual abuse.

Their stories are just devastating.

Really gives you some perspective and understanding.

You think “how could someone get to 600lbs?”, but when you hear those therapy sessions,

The logic checks out.

Very interesting show.

This show is talked about a lot on here but zive never seen it. Im suprised people arent having heart attacks or strokes if they weigh 600 lbs

My whole household, consisting of my mom, my dad, my dog, and I weigh about 600 lbs. And Im a pretty big guy. I can’t imagine trying to carry around that kind of weight.

I have never seen that show either. Are they usually capable of walking?

@Bowens -:joy: Thanks for the laugh man. I’m not going to argue with you, Maggie would beat me in a street fight 100%.

But I don’t think me and Maggie would ever have any problems… I would give her belly rubs and she would love me.
