Money grief

My dad agreed to give me the money.
But he usually sends me a little every week for food, and he might not be able to do that for the rest of tje month, so now, there’s a new problem.
I don’t see and end to this and it’s really stressing me out

Do you have food banks in your area?

There’s a place where you can get a meal per day, and there’s a guy who sometimes gives out free food he gets from stores, but both are a busride away and I can’t afford bus tickets

Yes, I understand - sorry - this is a real problem. Can you ask someone to drive you there?

No
I could try to contact the food guy and ask if we can make a deal about him maybe coming here with the food, but I don’t have any guarantees.

This is a good idea, @Berru. What could it hurt to contact the food guy? Also, is this food bank place within cycling distance? Do you ride a bike? Can you borrow a bike?

Do you have anything that you can sell?

No, and it takes an hour minimum to get there by foot
And I don’t think I have anything anyone would like to buy.

I don’t have any relatives nearby except for an aunt who has as little money as I have, so she wants me to give her gas money when she drives me somewhere. Which is fair.

OK - I’d suggest contacting the food guy now. Let us know how it goes.

I can’t remember his name, but I’ve messaged a friend who knows it and asked if he remembers.

I also joined a facebook group for people with no money to get help for food and such, but I’m too scared to post (and I don’t know what I’d say)

Good on you, @Berru. Posting on FB is a great idea. It’s OK to ask for help on this matter. People in my area post such requests on our local FB club all the time. They get a lot of support - for the most part. I forgot about this option. I really encourage you to post on FB.

I had talked to a friend a few days ago about how the whole money thing was stressing me out, and today he messaged me saying he’d sent me the money I’d need to cover the overdraft, plus some! :open_mouth:

I feel so lucky and humbled. It really solves the biggest problem, and makes things 10x easier for me. How did I get lucky enough to have such a good friend? And how will I ever be able to repay him?

You have good friends because you’re the kind of person who would give someone a credit card just so they could eat, even if you have no way to actually pay for it.

I am happy you have your friend. How can you repay him? You can be the friend that loves unconditionally like like your friend does, right? Again, my heart is so happy for you. I know what it is like to fret about money, lol…

You could pay it forward one time…

I had an extra ten dollars and my 18 year old son at McDonald’s. I wanted to do something different and this is what I came up with:
I thought it was a good idea to go backwards through the drive thru and my son thought it was cool that he could order lunch through the passenger window.

After ordering our lunch, my son paid for the car behind us, and we were on our way. Yeah, its dangerous, yeah, do not do this; I never did it again… not necessarily the safest thing to do. I do have to say, though, the whole experience made an impression on my son. He still may have that receipt.

Or, you can just be grateful. That always works.
