Finally pay day and I'm already broke

I have to overdraft my account once a month to make it through the month and so it takes a large chunk out of my pay check when it finally hits…sigh. I wish living wasn’t so expensive !

I here ya, I’m having a good month, but it all goes to bills

A big squEEzy hug doesn’t cost anything, one for you!

That’s really discouraging! Is there any way out of it? Any way to get caught up?

@FlyingPurplePeopleMeeter thank you for asking…actually this month I get a lot of Christmas money so I am hoping I can break the cycle this month. I have noticed you posting on here a lot and I like what you have to say…very caring woman.

Yay! That’s great! It’s helpful to have something to look forward to instead of dreading another month coming up short. December can be expensive. Rooting for you as you make choices that align with your goals to be debt free! Ask for support when you need it to not spend money that you want to save!

Aww, thanks. You’re sweet. Not everything I say is helpful, it I do want to offer support. It’s mutual. I super appreciate the care I receive on here, and I’ve only been around for two weeks!

Have you looked into getting a food bank hamper this month? That should help with grocery expenses.

Even if you are working managing the money without going into overdraft can be hard . My stepdaughter went deep into her overdraft this month and doesn’t get paid till the 15th. Luckily I had a bit of cash to lend her.

We are always out of money halfway into the third week of the month. There’s a really good food bank near us that we like. It helps a lot. Not all food banks give that much food. It’s good to try different food banks to see what they’re all like. For instance we don’t go to Salvation Army by us because the meat is always brown and past the expiration date and the veggies are always withered, bruised, and partially rotten. But there’s another one that’s really good.

In WV,USA you have to show your paystubs to get food at the food pantry. At least the pantry I went to.

Our food pantry is 3 times a year, that’s it, anyone can come. I’ve only used it once. I’m half tempted to go get some even though we’re fine just to stock some extra away. But I won’t.

I just make sure i have enough food till next paycheck in stock.

@anon84157300 yes exactly…I make sure we always have something to eat…we finally broke away from frozen chimichangas and tuna and ramen…replaced those meals with Marie Collender chicken pot pies and jimmy dean sausage egg and cheese croissants. should be a good month.

When I get paid. I call it king for a day. Paid and broke on same day. But everything’s paid at least

Okay, I know ramen is cheap, but living on it can’t be good for you? Also, too much tuna means too much mercury accumulating in your system. And aren’t the prepared foods more expensive?

Again, wondering how expensive the prepared stuff is compared to scratch made? And I hope you’re eating veggies you’re not sharing about?

Not trying to pick you apart, but man, this sounds pricey and bad for you.

:sob:

Hey @jukebox, I may have shared this with you before, but here it is again:

Great source of ideas for eating well on a pauper’s wage (or lack thereof).

Hope this helps?

I feel for ya @jukebox. I just paid a pretty huge light bill, it was near getting shut off.

Now I have to figure out how I’m going to afford the book and supplies for my class.

I’m already practically screwed for the month haha.

@shutterbug it’s not that you have bad advice, but I live in a very small town and our food pantry only allows you to go there every three months and when you do go you get ■■■■ for foo…I drink V 8 for my vegetables…Angie doesn’t but she takes a multi vitamin every day… thanks anyways.

Oh man. I’m sorry @jukebox

I also have to do the pantry once in a while but hey we’re survivors and we do what needs to be done. No apologies.

:slightly_smiling_face:

Oh crap, right. Small town food pantries blow. I volunteer for ours, and, yeah. Is there a Salvation Army near you? They’re often quite helpful.
