I’m already taking two grams a day each of sarcosine and NAC, but my sleep is still awful - I feel like I never get deep sleep anymore. Does anyone know if adding theanine to the mix would help?
I ask because I think that they all act in similar areas in the brain, so I was wondering whether mixing them could be detrimental?
I get my sarcosine tomorrow, but I was under the impression that it is a motivator and not a sleep aid. The L theanine is meant to help sleep patterns.
I actually take Glycine, TMG, and DMG (forms Sarcosine) and l-theanine. The l-theanine helps me sleep and keeps me relaxed. Seems to quiet the voices as well.
Oh, I’d like an answer, too! I just re-ordered sarcosine, which I am usually on since Feb. 2016, and L-Theanine, which is the first time I’ll be taking this. I was planning on taking one in the morning and one at night and it hadn’t occurred to me that it might not be safe.
Sarcosine for the negative symptoms and l-theanine for the sleep and paranoia issues was what I was hoping for…
I just figured that spreading them out across the day would make it easier for my body, but now I’m not sure. I
My powder set doesn’t come until Wednesday, so hopefully there’ll be a certain answer here by then!
Look up Sarcosine Side effects in google. L-theanine is safe from what I’ve read. I don’t take sarcosine specifically just the amino acids that make it but I’m fine.
Just remembered - I’ve actually taken all these supplements at the same time - for a number of months (like most people - I go for periods of time when I’m taking supplements, and then times when I’m not - just because I run out them or need to save money or get busy) - and have had no problem with taking them at the same time.
Thanks for the replies everyone - it’s much appreciated. I tried theanine right before bed, and I had one of the worst nights sleep I’ve had in a long time. I just couldn’t get to sleep; it was like my brain was wired and that I was half-awake all night. I took it right before bed - is it something that would be better to take in the morning or during the day. If I took it in the morning/during the day, is there any chance that it could still negatively impact my sleep?
It’s actually not supposed to make you drowsy. Theanine is actually known for being a non-drowsy anti-anxiety supplement. Although I do now take it before I sleep. Sometimes I can’t sleep without it, so maybe your body has to become accustomed to it. However, I can also take it during the day without it causing me to be drowsy.
