I’m not trying to be political. Please, that’s not the point. But I’m about to become homeless again. I am lucky enough to live in my brothers home. But mental health has been politicized as a danger. I can’t afford rent on my disability income. I’m pretty sure that my dog and I are going to be homeless soon. I live in a state where homelessness is a crime. I’m afraid I’ll lose my dog and go to jail. I’m sorry, I’m ranting. I’m just scared. I’m really scared. Have any of y’all been through something like this? What can I do?
That’s a tough place to be in. I have faced the threat of eviction from my apartment multiple times a few years ago. Do you live in the United States? If so you can call 211 to find resources
If i were you I’d find a hostel to stay in and id do it before you get made homeless. Sorry that your in this difficult predicament, all the best
Would your brother mind the dog during nighttime for you if hostel don’t allow pets
No he can’t be bothered with that kind of thing. He thinks dogs are stupid and should be chained outdoors.
I’ll find something I’m sure. I shouldn’t have said anything. Just disregard this post.
@Funkeldunks If you are in the US, there are apartment complexes that charge a sliding scale based on your income (if you have any). It’d definitely be worth checking out. Check out Get subsidized housing | USAGov . Another thing that I urge you to do (again, assuming you are in the states) is contact the Department of Human Services (DHS) in your state. They can get you set up on TANF, if you qualify, Food stamps (EBT card), Medicaid if you don’t have insurance, etc. It’s a lot of paper work, but it’s feasible, and it could keep you off the streets. Don’t get stressed yet- get busy and on top of this so that everything turns out okay. I really wish you the best.

Lives in a van.
He has solar panels , microwave, fridge, mattress n so and showers at gym.
Maybe you can take a loan with payment plan for a van .
He says he is very comfortable and happy with this.
He used to live on the streets for ten years I think.
Or move to another state and buy a good swag until you find a place.
Can you rent a room somewhere?
That’s usually cheaper.
But difficult perhaps dealing with people as such.
Prayers you find a place.
Everyone should have somewhere to live .
Keep calm man, it’s hard to do so in this situation. I’ve been in the same situation, when I was last hospitalised (UK though, not the USA) I had to complete lots of forms and checks and sign up to council housing (UK’s equivalent of subsidised housing in the USA). the entire process took over a year and half, 4 months in hospital and the 12 to about 13/14 months in a temporary housing accommodation
