Might have to quit smoking

My doctor makes me get a cat scan of my lungs every year since I smoke. The GP at the VA here.

I went the other day and she called me that afternoon and I was driving and she wouldn’t talk to me and said she would call me when I got home.

She called and said I have a 7 mm nodule in the bottom of my right lung and she wants me to see a pulmonologist.

She said I also have two stones in my gall bladder but if I don’t have any symptoms not to worry about it.

I have three little modules in my lungs. I used to smoke cigs and vape. I quit both. It takes will power. I get my lungs tested again in the summer. Don’t worry too much k.

I read on the Internet that 50 percent of smokers over 50 have nodules in their lungs and she said they usually don’t worry about them until they are 10 mm and mine is only 7. I am 51.

Still she made a big deal of it.

I like to smoke.

Yeah 10mm modules sounds about right. Mine are only 3mm. Smoking relaxes you I know. I’m only 40. They cut out part of my dad’s lungs. He couldn’t breathe after that. Had a walker. Smoked like a train. What got him was his heart attack. I hope you can quit too. Hugs

The VA is overly cautious. I used to have a shrink that said I had to get an EKG every six months because I take Geodon.

Once she told me that I had a bad EKG. Prolonged QT interval or something like that. I was worried I would have to quit Geodon and I actually quit cold turkey until I got in to see a heart doctor. Quitting Geodon cold turkey is a mother ■■■■■■. That did not go well.

Anyway. About a week later I went and saw a heart doctor. A cardiologist. He said my EKG was fine and I could go back to taking Geodon.

I asked for a new shrink. This one doesn’t order EKGs for me at all but he is very thorough with checking for TD. I have to walk like a duck around his office and makes me do all sorts of crazy things with my hands.

I guess they all have something they are over worrying about.

I might try Chantix but I heard that has serious side effects and I take a lot of psych meds. Don’t need any help with suicidal ideation either.

Has anyone tried it?

It might prolong your life by quite a few years.

It worked very well for me and I didn’t even finish the course. Just gave up after two weeks on the chantix. I have had other people in my life who found it horrible and had to stop. Best thing I ever did health wise besides get on psych meds was give up the smokes. If chantix works for you it’s easy…at least I found it so. I did feel a little crook in the stomach but I got through that.

Okay. Thanks. I already take 300 mg of Wellbutrin a day and that doesn’t help me with smoking.

I loved smoking. But my kids hated it and i didnt want to stink anymore, so i quit.

I began by rolling my own and using pipe tobacco to do it. It has liwer nicotine. After a year, i noticed i smoked less so i began spacing out the smoke times and had less all day. When i reavhed 10 a day, i quit cold turkey.

I liked to smoke, but then I quit and I like it much better now that I don’t. You’ll be amazed at how much you can’t taste or smell things right now when those senses recover.

I used to smoke, but I quit 8 years ago. What I did was buy an e-cig, then every two months, step down the percentage of nicotine in the juice until I was “smoking” with 0% nicotine. Then it was just a matter of cutting down, and breaking the hand-to-mouth habit. It took me 10 months, but I haven’t smoked since.

Write a list of benefits you’ll get if you quit smoking. If you have a craving, pull out the list and go over it.
