They did a lung cancer CT scan on me and found a nodule. I saw a pulmonologist Tuesday. He said there are actually two nodules. One isn’t concerning, but he doesn’t know about the other. He sees evidence of damage due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and thinks I was misdiagnosed with Osteoarthritis.
I’m going to the lab this morning to get a blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Their was moderate Emphysema on the CT scan. He’s going to do a full-body PET scan on me which detects cancer. He’s also going to do a Pulmonary Functioning test and an treadmill exercise test while monitoring my breathing.
There is supposed to be a three month waiting list for PET scans. So this is what smoking gets you. I quit smoking ten years ago and look at the trouble I’m having now.
I know it stressful but just a day at a time. No evidence yet it’s too serious and they catch things early they can do so many great things these days. Yeah. There’s a price to pay for smoking and it may help you in the short term but never in the long term. Hang in there.
Thanks @rogueone@Joker. I smoked for 35 years before I developed breathing problems. I tried to quit numerous times and failed, but was able to after I had trouble breathing.
The pulmonologist said I did the best thing I could do for myself which was to quit. I guess it avoids additional damage, but there weren’t any nodules on the CT scan they did four years ago. I actually thought my breathing has gotten better until this trouble happened.
I used to work in banking with machines that process checks with MICR, Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. I believe they said the ink was a carcinogen. So maybe I got a double whammy.
