Might ask to try abilify cos I'm not losing weight

I went to a dietician. She put me on 2800 calories a day. I was on that for about 4 weeks and never lost any weight. For the last 3 weeks I have been on 2150 calories a day and have still not lost weight. I think my seroquel is involved here.

I am thinking of swapping my seroquel for abilify. I will still stay on my depixol depot. Another bonus is hopefully I won’t be as sedated either.

Anyone have any idea how long a taper down/taper up from seroquel to abilify might take?

It shouldn’t take more than a month to make the transition from one AP to another.
Good luck, I am on abilify and it’s been a good choice.

Thanks @Andrey! Could be an unpleasant month?

I switched my AP twice and I never ran into serious trouble. But everyone is different…

Yeah I’m not losing anymore.
I lost some weight earlier but basically had to starve myself and this is not healthy.
I know it’s the meds but I really can’t afford to switch meds.
I did lose a lot of weight while I was on Abilify.
Talk it over with your psychiatrist @Jimbob, see what he or she has to say.
Good luck

I’m on abilify and I’ve lost weight. Not in a bad way but all the motivation abilify gives me makes me weight neutral. I can eat whatever I like thanks to abilify. I can’t wait for the next good antipsychotic to come out, because abilify is good but could use improvement. Here’s to hoping.

I here that some people actually lose weight on it.

I’ve gained 5lbs since starting Abilify. Maybe because I’m so much more active and exercising, I need to eat more.

I tapered off 600mg seroquel and onto 10mg over the course of about 6 weeks. I was never on less than 10mg Abilify at any point from what I remember.

But I’d give the calorie counting a few months to work.
