Well you know it’s funny because in many of those movies they have these bizarre psychedelic moments of bright spinning and moving colors in weird tunnels like in Dumbo and it seems like he’s eating mushrooms or smoking pot. It’s so strange.
I remember that part in “The Beauty and the Beast” where Belle’s father is taken in to some sort of custody because the town dubbed him insane.
It was a really traumatizing scene.
When I was in middle school I still believed someone like that would come and get me if I told what was going on in my brain.
So, yes.
I guess most Disney princesses had a mental illness. I don’t think I picked up on any of this when I first watched the movies.
Winnie the Pooh characters are the most obvious, perhaps. Each has a different characteristic related to MI. But I don’t think I developed prejudices because of it.
Also, if y’all will think on it, the ugly people are always bad. Why? Why can we so often predict who will be bad based on their looks? It’s just wrong.
This is the first image that popped into my after reading your comment @Happy_H

Interesting. I can’t remember.
It’s interesting. But remember Dopey in Snow White? I think he had some serious problems like with gait, being a mute, and problems that require complex thought. Like when he leaves the key right next to the door at their jewel cache. Also his name implies that he had a very serious substance abuse problem.
Quasimodo wasnt bad, but I guess that was the point of his story.
The beast was supposedly a good guy, although I would call him a secondary bad guy after Gaston. I mean he did imprison someone over a flower. I dont care if he says “I was damned over one”. That’s a lame excuse to imprison someone forever. Technically he is a good guy though and he is ugly. Gaston is the attractive one in that story.
Do you find my avatar triggering? I will change it if you do.
EDIT: I just want to be clear I’m not being a smartass I’m genuinely asking. I didnt know if I came off as sarcastic, but I’ve been paranoid about giving the wrong impression for some reason.
I’ve only noticed a lot sexuality in Disney film, not so much MI
I did notice bad people were often considered ugly. It made me feel like I might as well not try to be good, because people would judge me anyways.
When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a princess. But princesses were pretty, had long hair, and wore dresses. MY mum kept giving me bowl cuts and putting me in androgynous hand-me-downs, so I felt like I wasn’t beautiful enough to qualify and no one would ever want me
@Pikasaur- You are beautiful; I’ve seen your picture.
Fantasia was a acid trip.
