I don’t have insurance and im having trouble choosing medicines. Risperdal is working but caused male breast formation in me. Why is it so hard to live on these medicines and accept the side effects? Im considering stopping the medication due to sleeping all day that’s no way to live either
Sucks man. Talk to you’re doctor about keeping your doses low. It’ll take a while to find the right level. Never give up trying to sort it out psychologically.
The breast thing is killer. I dropped my dose a quickly as I could to stop that ■■■■.
Hope you’re disability claim goes through.
Try the first generation antipsycotics, I’m on depixol and i get it for free but if i had to pay it would only be £3 per injection. Also how many relapses you had because if you have not had many you can consider reducing and trying to come off. Recommend Not going cold turkey i’ve tried that a couple of times and it ended badly.
I get where your coming from when talking about it being hard living with side effects. My whole day everyday i just think about being on meds and how its turned my life upside down. I hope i can one day fully recover from this ■■■■, got to wait another 3 to 4 years before i can start reducing dose.
I don’t know how much this would cost but I am on Geodon and it has very little side effects. At first I slept a lot on it but after a couple of months I was fine. I use to be on Abilify but that didn’t work nearly as good as Geodon. Worth a try if the cost isn’t too bad.
When do you take the medications. Many people take them just before bed and it helps them sleep at night.
And - talk with your Pdoc - see if you can lower the dose. Perhaps add another medication too and slowly phase over. There are many success stories with trying other medications too - see this recent link:
I would not give up on meds just yet - find other meds, or go low dose.
There are a lot of affordable generics and typical APs out there
I say keep working with the atypicals. The side effects are much easier to tolerate. Maybe you should try Geodon and Seroquel.
