How many times have you stopped medication?

Only once for 3 days, my mom didn’t let me stop it.

I have stopped AP’s zero times since I have been on them consistently. I reduced but have never stopped.

oh god the worst was Effexor. it helped with the dissociation but it would stop working and we would go up on the dose. i ended up having “electric shock syndrome” which was hell. i couldn’t function. going off it i numbed myself with marijuana. it hurt. vertigo as well.

A couple of times years and years ago. But i have been on the injection form for a while now and havent had the chance haha. Which is probably a good thing. Pretty dangerous to just randomly stop meds as we all know.

Because I can’t lower anymore I wonder what would happen if I stopped

I stopped medications at the doctor’s suggestion in 1975. It was a dangerous and painful experiment that nearly cost me my life.

This is third time. Doc said I don’t need it. Even I have realized I don’t. Slow taper over half year.

Cause I was undiagnosed unmedicated for a long time I think I’ll just be like that which I think I could handle just have to convince my doctor until they agree I just stay with what I’m doing

I went off my meds four times and it gave me cognitive impairment I never fully recovered from.

I am now on a very low dose of medicine.

I stopped pherpenazine depot in 1994. Ever since I’ve been on some kinds of antipsychotics. I’ve only reduced meds since then.

I’ve stopped my meds or played with the doses more times I can remember - and that’s why I’ve had 13 hospitalisations. Not all were due to stopping meds though like my last one just now was stress induced

Maybe three times before now. Two times were without medical supervision and turned out very badly. The one under medical supervision was rough, but the doc got me back on meds before I lost insight. In the process of discontinuing again, and this is with medical supervision and backup plans in place.

Since starting an AP and a mood stabilizer, in 2017, I have never stopped meds. I’ve switched meds and adjusted dosages, with my pdoc, but I’ve been taking meds consistently.

I had a psychotic break in 2019, even though I was taking my meds. They kinda pooped out on me.

Mostly right after I began with AP’s. I first got ill at 27, so I thought I could go back to normal just stopping the drugs. But that didn’t work obviously.

Several times. I could live with the symptoms although I prefer not having the symptoms like now. I had a good amount of happy delusions but the not being able sleep was my biggest problem.

Also I had to depend a lot on coping mechanisms when I was not on medication.
