You didn’t stop any of your antipsychotics though, which was a good thing. You’ll be back to 100% before you know it.

Like @everhopeful says it wasn’t an AP. Was an AD and an anxiety med. funny thing is the disorientation and anxiety caused by stopping these meds has increased my paranoia.

For me a flare up of stress/anxiety exacerbates my psychosis.

Just imagine if it was an AP what I had stopped.

Yeah, I had stopped taking All psych meds including my Antipsychotic and this is what landed me in the Hospital.

I can’t stop taking any of my meds for more than two days because I get so sick from withdrawals.

I just quit 2 or maybe it was 3 meds. I feel so much better, I can think more clearly. The pdoc cleaned up my regimen.

I got my dose way down and now am only on 2.5mg olanzapine per day and 80mg propranolol per day. Used to be 25mg olanzapine a year ago and got the dose down using EMDR, about 700 hours of eye movements. Also did hypnotherapy.

You’ll be feeling better soon @Jimbob. Sorry it was a rough trot for you. I know you did it with the best of intentions.

It’s hard isn’t it, sometimes we feel like slaves to our medication. Tethered by the need to swallow so many for so many different things. I wish life were easier and there wasn’t any need to take them. I understand why you stopped them, the side effects are wretched.

I hope you recover soon.

For what it’s worth, I quit all my meds cold turkey a couple of weeks before Christmas. Just threw them out. I felt terrible, sick and dizzy. I was only off them for three days but the withdrawals were horrid. It took a couple of days for my body to reset when I started taking them again, but now I feel normal again. I quit them because I didn’t think I needed them, I thought it would be just like quitting a vitamin.

Thanks for the support @anon84763962. Am starting to feel a lot better now. Phew!

Sorry to hear you have a hard time taking meds as well. Going cold turkey is real hard. Glad you’re feeling better now.

My pdoc allowed me to drop my dose of Wellbutrin altogether. It hurt a little more than I expected. I think he did it to teach me to have respect for my med’s. It’s a lesson well learned. I’m going to ask him if I can go back on half as big a dose.

I stopped my meds several times in the past and except for one of those times (when it was monitored by a pdoc and I was in remission) I never fared well. Several hospital stays were due to me quitting meds and every time I stopped it set me back months of stability. Even if I stopped for three days I felt withdrawal symptoms and a relapse coming and even if I resumed meds it always took longer to regain stability - a few months. But even though it was always a big mistake I never learned. Because when I was so stable I thought I was well and didn’t need meds anymore. But I do.
