Maybe a job?

I applied for a part-time job on a whim last night, and they responded today! It would be as an ESL teacher for adults. I’ve done it before on a volunteer basis, but this job pays $20 an hour for 6 hours a week. I should be able to do it and still keep my SSDI. I think I’d like it, and two days a week is definitely doable! Fingers crossed!

I’ve done this sort of work before, volunteering as an assistant teacher for adult learners, and also teaching English & literature to high schoolers where half of my class were not native English speakers. My MA is in Teacher Leadership, and I’ve also taken a certification course and passed all certification exams (though cert. is not required for this job).

this should be a good fit for you then.
my problem was not having much experience or interests in much so i applied for 5 jobs each one doing a different thing.

If you don’t mind my asking, what was the job you quit?

Teaching can be stressful, but 6 hours a week is doable.

it was a job at a small food place, probably the least stressful when compared to most like fast food places but still it wasnt for me

Sounds great. Keep your stress low and be confident in your abilities. I think you’ll do well.

I am worried that my TD will act up during the interview because I will be nervous. I don’t want to start blinking a bunch or clasping my hands. I just want her to think I’m a normal person.

Now I’m worried. What if I get the job but learn I can’t handle it? I don’t want to let students down.

@Happy_H

I hope you want it, get it, thrive, and keep your disability benefits. Congrats… :hugs:
