May Have to D/C Clozapine

I’m scared that I may need to discontinue the clozapine I’m on due to tachycardia. My heart rate went up to 130 just sitting up in bed and I felt breathless. This lasted about 3 minutes. Clozapine has given me back some of my mind and really helped me reduce suicidal ideation so that I almost never think about suicide again. I’m going to ask my doc for a beta-blocker to see if that’ll help, but I’m worried that that won’t help.

I think if I DO have to discontinue it than I’ll ask that it happens in the hospital in case I get rebound psychosis or suicidal.

I’m really scared now…

I had to lower my clozapine because of tachycardia. I went from 200 mg clozapine to now 25 mg clozapine and 12 mg Invega.

I didn’t need to go to the hospital, but be prepared for insomnia when lowering clozapine.

I also had to lower clozapine for tachycardia. I went from 300mg to 200mg daily dosage. Losing the 100mg took me roughly an year. My doctor was veeeery careful with lowering my dose. I went 25mg down every 3 months. I didn’t have any problems with lowering my dose. I was getting really impatient with this whole lowering my dose -deal but my doctor told me if I went down with the clozapine any faster, I could end up in hospital in psychosis. At this point I had been 12 years on clozapine, so my body might have reacted if I’d lower it faster.

I hope raven that it all just passes or that it’s possible to lower the Clozapine a little bit. If changes have to take place with the Clozspine then I agree with you that it should take place in a protected setting.

I think that’s a good idea. It really sucks that you’re having trouble with it since it helps you.
