After 10 years of clozapine
Initially I was up to 450mg a day
I’m down to 125mg a day and last few years all my negative symptoms got worse
(Especially apathy, social withdrawal, anhedonia and blunted effect)
Also I too am starting to get in angry moods lately.
My pdoc is trying to get me off clozapine while introducing Vraylar…that’s the plan but I’m waiting to undergo a couple heart related tests
I’m on 150 mg clozapine plus 6 mg Vraylar. The clozapine has given me heart issues but the Vraylar is not strong enough on it’s own for me…I was taking 300 mg of clozapine and thought a lower dose wouldn’t affect my heart but a pdoc told me that the damage may have already been done. So, yeah, if you can get off the clozapine, I’d encourage that…
The Vraylar is nice cuz now I sleep about 7 hours a night instead of 12. I did the Holter monitor last week but I guess it takes a while to read it…I see the cardiologist on Nov 27, then I guess I’ll see.
i had tachycardia from it too. it went away when i stopped it. the part that is worrying is long term tachycardia can cause cardiomyopathy which is where ur heart muscle ends up changed, and that is a listed side effect of clazapine. but the tachycardia should go away. and if they do an echocardiogram they should be able to tell if ur heart is still normal size and thickness. if it is u will prob be ok after u quit
