We owe a lot to the scientists. They make life better, except those who produce chemical weapons, and stuff like that. There was a scientist named Fritze Harber, and he found a way to derive nitrogen from the environment, making the production of ammonium nitrate fertilizer much cheaper, which enabled the earth to support two billion more people. However, he was the man who had the idea of using poisonous industrial waste as a weapon in World War I. His wife committed suicide because he was using science to hurt people. Fritz also discovered Zyklon B, the poison they used to kill people in the Holocaust. He was trying to develop a pesticide to support industrial farming, but he came up with Zyklon B instead.
