This says people diagnosed in adolescence. That certainly doesn’t apply to me. I was 38 when I got sick.

I went through vocational rehabilitation a few times. They first wanted to put me on an independent living plan for people who are too disabled to work or go to school and help me find a hobby. This was with the VA. I refused that and enrolled in school anyway. Used my GI bill.

Went and got my aircraft mechanics license. Passed the school and my FAA exams and worked in the industry about 9 months.

Applied again and tried to get them to send me to law school. They wouldn’t do that because they said I already had an MBA so they tried to help me find a job. I found one on my own and worked for the IRS a couple years.

Vocational Rehabilitation isn’t really effective. I can find better jobs on my own.Would have liked to gone to law school though. I used all my GI bill.

Well, I think it’s going on the likelihood that many get diagnosed with Schizophrenia during early adulthood. I skimmed the full article and that’s what I infer. This can become a constant problem for the duration of life. And, people with Sz or SzA diagnosis likely to have more difficulty integrating to society than those with a Psychosis diagnosis (not Schizophrenia).

@Phrogflyer You’re really going to go through with this, huh? I already see what you’re doing, so you’re trying too hard for nothing. You really have nothing better to do, huh?

Well i wasnt diagnosed until age 26 but i did vocational training. Actually was in it when diagnosed. I found the employment part was incredibly useless for me since i was able to find jobs they thought i could do anyway, so i went back to college and they paid for all my classes and supplies. I just have 2 more classes but i withdrew from VR because i needed a long break from school. Im also still working, considering reapplying for VR to finish up school next year

I don’t follow you. I already did all that stuff. I may apply for Voc Rehabilitation again and try for law school again. Some people have gotten approved. But I don’t want help finding a job. I can do that on my own.

Denial aint just a river in Spain.

Don’t you mean Egypt?

(denial=the Nile)

Yes, that was part of the joke. Of course I meant The Nile river in Egypt. I said Spain as a joke. I think I heard it on an episode of King of Queens.
