Maybe you do, when you’re manic.
For a long time I thought mania might be a nice change from my blahs of sz. When I had brought it up on the forum about a year ago though I got shouted down by people who said how destructive it was for them.
Sure would be nice if you could find energy to do things as easily as flipping a switch. This has not been my experience going on thirty years now.
Yea it seems when I am more “functional” I am manic, I was overspending, reckless and impulsive yet I was able to go to the gym almost everyday, hangout with friends everyday, had a few jobs etc
I suspect I have sza and not sz now.
Did you ever experience mania? You have sz or sza?
But you need an element of depression for sza? I thought you said you are never depressed?
Not sure but there is a sza type that only has mania. I also read that if psychosis always happens at the same time as mania like in my case its called bipolar with psychotic features.
hmm…interesting. I have never heard of that. I have only heard of sza bipolar type and sza depressive type. Never heard of the one you are referring too. But I’m no expert I guess.
That one can or can’t have depression. It says sometimes it has depression but not always.
Yeah, I was just looking at some articles on that. I think you are right.
@anon67051439
Reason Mania always come with Depression is the come down affect. It’s almost predictable that when the mania is gone your gonna feel like ■■■■.
Idk how to convice my psychiatrist. He thinks I only have sz for some reason while my symptoms clearly show mania. I never knew about mania until I joined this forum. I asked him to prescribe me mood stabilizers but he refused.
So its impossible to have mania only?
I have experimented with stimulants in the past to try and overcome the perpetual drag of the negative symptoms. Higher doses made me manic. Never worked out well, always lost more than I gained.
Example of me talking out of my ass.
That’s what I always thought prior to our discussion here but several articles I’ve pulled up say something to the effect of “mania and SOMETIMES major depressive”
Honestly mania with psychotic features describes my symptoms better. I think that’s what @Wave said he has.
It explains why I am more “functional” on weaker meds or on Abilify. In reality I am partially more functional because I then get mania problems.
IDK Aziz. This really seems like something you need a competent pdoc to try to sort out. It doesn’t sound like you have much faith in yours though.
From Wikipedia:
The condition is classified as bipolar I disorder if there has been at least one manic episode, with or without depressive episodes, and as bipolar II disorder if there has been at least one hypomanic episode (but no full manic episodes) and one major depressive episode
