Man keep smelling burning painted wood/plastic

Is by far my most frustrating symptom. I am unable to just write it off as an hallucination. I mean what if there is a real fire.

Anyone got any tips with how to deal with this?

If you are at home, test your smoke detectors. If they’re working properly, but not going off, you should be safe.

I smelled smoke before my first hospitalization and it probably smelled like what you smell but I knew it wasn’t in the outer world. It caused great panic in me, I thought my soul was aflame. I’m sorry if this is disturbing, I know now that is not what the smell is today. I also heard a song that overwhelmed me with its greatness and I thought the songwriter was a bad person. It was SUNNY AFTERNOON by The Kinks.

It’s winter, people’s chimneys are emitting the smells of actual burning of solid fuel. It could be that.

Thats a really strange coincidence. I had exactly the same symptom years ago. There was a smell of burned plastic everywhere, and especially in my urine. Later there was a rotten smell.

I didn’t have the bad smell, mine was a bad taste like metal or fuel. During my last episode.

I have an idea. Blow your nose really well, that’s one. Then buy a bag of cinnamon sticks, the big bag off Amazon, and throw 6 to 8 of them in a pot of water and simmer them on the stovetop for a while. This will fill the flat with a powerful smell of cinnamon overriding the nasty smell of plastic. Oh sure you can get other types of air fresheners and diffusers but none so natural and simple. Just be careful to set the stove timer so you remember to check your water level every so often so you don’t run out and scorch your pan. If you like you can also buy star anise and cloves and throw that in, but I personally love the cinnamon the best.
