Making bread

I have 2 loaves in the oven. Just white bread. Anyone else ever make bread?

That sounds nice. I’ve made bread, but it’s not something I do regularly. Have you tried doing a tiger bread topping?

No, I don’t know what that is.

Tiger bread is the commercial name for a loaf of bread of Dutch origin that has a mottled crust.

Making bread can be a great hobby. There is a lot you can do. Grain, fruit, savoury bread. It’s cheap to mess around with the ingredients. For advanced people or even beginners, a breadmaker is a great purchase.

I used to have a bread maker. It died and I haven’t gotten a new one.

I’ve only ever made a yeast free bread, which, I guess, is like a loaf shaped muffin!

I found a breadmaker in the rubbish. It’s working good. It was an appliance throw out I guess. That was years ago.

I like to get one of those, to make pastries as well. This is better than a
breadmaker.

I have a Sunbeam stand mixer. It has dough hooks, but it isn’t as good as a KitchenAid.

I have a kitchen aid pro mixer with dough hooks. It’s similar. Haven’t tried it for bread yet. Just cookies and cakes.

I like not needing to knead. The hooks do that, but I have to manually turn the bowl and keep scraping the flour to them until the main ball forms.

Um. [ looks guilty ]

The good mixers like kitchenaid are expensive. But when this is a hobby it’s money well spend as an one off buy. All you need is a workbench.

I bought a refurbished one. It cost me less than half the retail price, and works great.
