I realize it may seem ridiculous to make another post about this already, but the more I tell people about it the more pressure I feel to keep it going. I appreciate the words of encouragement from yesterday’s post.
It’s been 41 hours since my last smoke; yeah, I’m still counting hours lol. It’s killing me, even with the nicotine gum, but it will be worth it when I beat this addiction. I swear today has been harder than yesterday was.
I quit cold turkey when I was 21, was a nonsmoker for three and a half years before picking it up again, but damn I don’t know how I did that. I guess I just wanted it that badly, was motivated by the thought of going on to med school after college. This time it’s mostly just money motivating me. It also is kinda nice knowing I don’t smell like it, and I swear that over the past couple weeks of very restricted smoking my teeth have already gotten slightly whiter, which certainly is very welcome.

You gotta do this. I always found day three the hardest. Kind of curious about what I can put up with if I quit. Who will I be? How will I see the world when I don’t smoke every 30 minutes.

Lol, very soon I’m going to have my sixth piece of the day; it’s just after 4:30pm where I am, been up since 7am. I used just seven pieces all of yesterday, so yeah, chewing the ■■■■out of it today lol.

Nicotine gum is not quitting cold turkey. That’s like saying I quit heroin and took methodone to do it…

Since I am stopping a few things soon I might try to give up nicotine as well. Well use gum instead of vaping.

@flameoftherhine was referring to how he quit cold turkey when he was younger just like I quit cold turkey when I was younger; I didn’t use gum, patches, anything that time.
That’s asking too much of yourself maybe. The nicotine is one thing that is as addictive as heroin physically and giving up aps at the same time is like kicking a habit and sucking your reality through a straw. One at a time my friend…

Surely if you can’t give up, just vape. Less than half the health risk of smoking and no bother for access. Why bother with gum? That’s also swapping the nicotine fix. You’ll always be craving a cigarette while you crave nicotine whether it’s gum or vaping or a cigarette.
Quitting is quitting and if you are not strong enough to do it then surely vaping is the most healthy alternative?
Thing is there is no long term safety data about vaping. Gum is a known factor.

I wouldn’t know other than the lack of all the carcinogenic factors of a cig. I gave up 13 years ago, cold turkey and there is no going back. I still sometimes miss smoking and miss smoking weed a lot more. That is the nature of addiction, you’ll always crave it, but the physical addiction to nicotine can be beaten in around 2 weeks. It is hard, but not impossible. Gum, vaping, still the craving for a cig will persist unless you beat it and hate it with a vengeance to keep up not smoking forever.
welcome to day 2 !! keep up your attitude. Not one puff ever. I have a site I go to and post daily about my journey on not smoking…helping others there too. it helps.
