Low dose Abilify or wait for Vraylar?

Idk which one to do. Abilify improved my negative symptoms by a lot but from what I remember it started to cause uncontrollable shopping addiction at doses above 10mg so I will have to take at least 2mg Risperdal with it. Vraylar is supposed to be better as I can take the max dose no problem. I don’t want to restart my outside life if I am not 100% on the best possible meds.

Another thing is that idk if Vraylar will be available here any time soon. Abilify is available now here.

Am I wanting too much? Maybe I should let myself go loose a bit and get on Abilify now. I will ask my Dr nxt apt end of next month.

Just stick with it. When i stopped and restarted my meds they usually stop working or lose effectiveness and i take higher doses…

It was a general statement. I would wait for vraylar as abilify caused you addiction issues.

From my memory, problems started only when I was above 10mg. But you’re right, its taking a big risk so idk maybe waiting for Vraylar is best. True that I have much less negative symptoms on Abilify but the shopping addiction was so extreme that overall I was worse than now on Risperdal with negative symptoms.

Also caffeine pills and a dopamine supplement improved my negative and cognitive symptoms but just by a tiny bit. I guess its better than nothing.

Looking at my forum history I did improve afterall. Before I was only complaining all day about negative symptoms in every thread lol

Before I was active outside 80% of my time with groups of friends, work, etc when I was on Abilify.

If you had a shopping addiction on Abilify, please don’t take it! I also had a sexual addiction while on it, but now that I am older my sex drive has tanked. I like Abilify, but it does have side effects.

Thanks, since stopping Abilify I lost my outside life but my family says I am better now than when I was on Abilify. I was spending so much even when I worked full time, emptied my bank account and had 3-4000$ debts on my 5000$ limit Visa. I couldn’t continue taking Abilify and living like this
