Obviously not everything that works for one person can work for all people, but I’m having success with weight loss even on Risperidone using low carb. I was kind of afraid to eat at first, I don’t even know why weight loss suddenly became so important to me, maybe because the Spring weather is here. The weather/season has a big impact on my thoughts and mood most of the time. But like yesterday I tried eating some roast beef slices and some block cheddar cheese which is high in calories, with some roasted pecans as “dessert”. I still lost 0.6 pounds since yesterday according to the scale this morning. I wonder if I am in ketosis, hope so.
I figure if APs can simulate diabetes, in essence, then going on a diabetes-style diet like “Atkins” in a nutshell might be the most strategic. So far so good, I ate a decent amount of calories but still lost some weight.
Abilify has given me high blood sugar, but my doctor put me on metformin to counteract it. I don’t think ‘natural’ methods will work as it’s artificially induced high blood sugar.
Make sure you get blood tests every so often, otherwise you’ll never know.
I’m not sure how accurate the information in this written piece is, but I decided to give it a try, as far as basing my diet off of the theories presented here:
I had great success with a low-carb diet, while on resperidone. I followed the diet and I never went hungry and I never exercised. I lost 65 lbs. I ate great food during the diet, I cooked myself lots of fancy meals during the diet.
I did low carb for 3 years total, lost a lot of weight 3 different times(last time was the most, 65 pounds). It seems to be unsustainable for me and I always felt like crap on it mentally and physically, but I had huge determination to push trough the cravings and lose weight. Right now I’m on high carb and low fat, haven’t gained fat, only a lot of muscle(which I lost cuz of the high fat). There are basically no pro athletes who are really successful who are on low carb and it’s unhealthy in the long term also: heart disease(Dr. Atkins died of heart disease and was overweight when he died), diabetes, bad for thyroid(never thought much of the black rings around my eyes, now they’re disappearing) etc. Not trying to say you can’t lose weight on high fat, just that it’s not really healthy and sustainable. I’m on Risperidone also btw.
From what I understand, Dr. Atkins did not die because of his own diet. he died from an unrelated medical condition that also caused him to retain water which also explains why he was over-weight. My understanding also is that millions of people have followed the Atkins Diet and been very successful at it for significant amounts of time. High-carb, low fat diets has it’s critics too.
I’m just using it to give me a boost. It’s been forever since I tried to lose some weight and low carb gives me a good kick off, gets me back to eating smaller portions. Cause like I don’t really ever feel the desire to go to town on like, some eggs.
Eggs can be good for you. They don’t have as much cholesterol as people think, and they are high in protein which is your bodies fuel and gives you energy… Eggs are a great way to start off the day.

Yeah but eating a bunch would probably make me throw up. My big thing is portion control. I can get into a bit of a trance when I eat and eat way too much, then feel sick and need to smoke some cigarettes. Eggs are helpful as meals because I have noooo desire to eat a bunch of eggs, blech.
