My cable bill has skyrocketed in the past few months. I have cable for both tv and internet, though I have the most basic cable package plus local channels. My bill has gone up to $167, crazy considering I use the tv service just for watching NFL football.
I figure after the Super Bowl I will cancel my tv service. I probably won’t subscribe to any streaming services until the next NFL preseason, but what is a good streaming service for which I could have local channels for watching football?
I hope this isn’t a dumb question; I just have never used a streaming service like Hulu or whatever. I have smart TVs, but I just play YT videos a lot.
If you get the Disney plus, Hulu and espn package I think it’s $30 a month. Also Amazon prime has a lot of live streaming sports games to watch. So does peacock. Paramount plus is associated with cbs so if you subscribe to paramount you can watch any live games airing on cbs.
I guess so. My Roku came built into my smartTV. I guess you would get the same service from an add-on device as I get on mine. Is the Roku device a one time purchase or do you have to pay a monthly fee? My Roku comes with all kinds of free TV shows, movies, documentaries. With Roku I get all the network channels, I get like 500 or 600 channels. I get music channels and music video channels. I get a lot. I get live streaming. I have the options to buy pay channels. I get YouTube.
If I understand it correctly purchasing the Roku and getting all the free channels is just a one time deal. But if you want any special streaming service like Netflix you need to fork over the money for those.
I already get a ton of channels too on my Samsung smart TV. Just a thought on my end. I don’t watch as much TV as I used to.
I have YoutubeTV, and it’s pretty awesome with the games. I get all the channels you would want for football – CBS, NBC, ESPN, Fox, NFL Network, etc. You can record games, which is what I do sometimes if a game is being played late at night. Hulu has a good selection of channels for football, too.
We have Hulu Live with the Disney and ESPN bundle. I really like it. I like it more than Fubo. Unfortunately, though, I can’t watch my white Sox games. Not that it matters too much, we lose a lot nowadays.
Hmm… from what I’m reading in the replies on here, YouTubeTV might be my best option. I have YT Premium, which is mostly what I use my TVs for. They’re smart TVs, should see if they have Roku. I believe it was @77nick77 who talked about that.
I’ve been unplugged from cable television for awhile now (we just pay for internet). I actually use YouTube the most, and it’s free. I have Amazon via Amazon Prime, for 6.99 a month with my disabled status, and I use that one a good deal (The Boys is amazing). Disney Plus I don’t use much and I don’t recommend unless you are a Star Wars or Marvel fanatic, and even then, you can just subscribe for one or two months and binge everything then cancel. It used to be a deal at 6.99 but it’s up to 14.99.
Netflix cancels all their good stuff imo, but has some good stuff on their licensed from others, like Detroiters. Also they have I Think You Should Leave so huge points for that.
HBO cut out large swaths of their adult animation. So really it’s hard to recommend any streaming service. I’d say Amazon Prime and HBO are my most used ones, after YouTube which is free. I have Disney Plus and Netflix but never use them. Peacock and Paramount are good but don’t have very much. Apple plus is the worst because of how tiny the catalogue is, makes Peacock and Paramount look like Netflix.
