@shutterbug since it is a roku t.v. does that mean we can watch roku channels for free? do I sign into netflix on my t.v. to start an account or do i do it on my home pc?
Your tv will have apps you click on the Netflix app and sign in also yes there are alot of free channels
Roku does have a Roku Channel that is free, as in you don’t need a subscription, with ads here and there throughout your shows or movies.
Things like Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Disney+, Hulu, and such are paid services.
You can sign up on your Roku for the most part but you may need a PC or tablet or phone to get a code then input it into a sign up screen to activate the free channel or paid subscription…not always but sometimes.
Roku channel is free. Our tv we can also access the internet and you can watch things like youtube.
We pay for a year of streaming service at tax time, usually. We only got Disney+ this past tax return, but I got a black friday deal on hulu (with ads) for 99 cent a month for a year. Peacock is $1.99. Hbo Max is $4.99 with a deal we got. Netflix is like $20.
So, $28 a month for a bunch of streaming options compared to the over $150 for the old cable tv and internet package. Maybe was more? All i know is we are saving a ton by streaming, even with the new netflix added.
I have only ever signed up for streaming services on home PC – would be a bugger to do it on a TV with the remote.
@anon4362788 well netflix is double for streaming what dvd was…thank you for all the info.
@shutterbug oh yay…that’s what I wanted to do anyways.
You can use your local library membership with the Kanopy app on Roku:
