Longest you've stayed out of the psych ward

It’s now been about 14 months since Ive been in the psych ward. The previous longest (since my first entry) was from the end of june 2011 to the beginning of august 2012…so that wasn’t quite 14 months. So now is the longest I’ve been without being in the psych ward since my first bout with psychosis. All thanks to my handy dandy meds, but gotta give some credit to myself. Wooo. Hope I continue to pad this record as long as I live, which I think I can do unless for some unforeseen reason I stop taking my meds or whatnot.

for being psychotic, 1998. for being suicidal, 2000. so I guess my answer is 15 years.

since 1997 for me, although about a year ago I was in the ER for about 4 hours, it was decided I did not need to be hospitalized.

Since 2011. But my pdoc wanted me to go there more often. Last time september 2014. But I refused.

Since 2011 and hoping it will stay that way.

It’s been 43 years for me also. You seem to have a self-acceptance and wisdom about this trip that I admire!

Last time was 32 years ago. At the time they said I’d be back in within 6 weeks. I do think it’s harder now to get admitted . If you are chronically mentally ill then care in the community is supposed to service your needs but often doesn’t due to inadequate funding.

I am going on three years (2012) but I have had a few psychotic episodes since then but not bad enough to be hospitalized.

I was last hospitalised for a few days in Jan this year, but longest I stayed out of hospital was for eight years from 2005-2013. I was in remission from 2007-2012 so that had something to do with it.

It has been since 2003 since I have seen the psych ward.

2 years, but recently got out of hospital again… in february.

I’ve stayed out since 1985. my two stays in the hospital one in 1980 and one in 1985 were not so pleasant. I actually didn’t get much help there at all.

I put myself in the hospital both times, I actually asked for the hospital because I was in such pain. it was a big mistake – they didn’t do anything much for me.

You are VERY old! that was 1,814 1/2 years ago…

I’ve never been out of the psych ward if you consider the aliens designed earth as an asylum planet…LOL (j/k)

Never in a psych ward. Sick for about 4 years solid , I was at home. My mother wouldn’t admit me. Had to show a lot of restraint , thought my family were imposters and I had died and gone to hell.

Edit: I was on psych wards but always passing through
