Long term damage from neuroleptic malignant syndrome

I recently was diagnosed with neuroleptic malignant syndrome caused by haldol. I spent 71 days in the hospital and have been out a few weeks now. I am still struggling to walk and I am searching everywhere online to figure out what long term effects NMS has. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I read that NMS is caused by excessive D2 receptor antagonism, so maybe try a mild D2 upregulator like Inositol? It’s good for mental health too.

Just a shot in the dark.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Haldol made a patch of my beard fall out.

Putting that little symbol in front of their username should send a notification to them, so hopefully you guys can communicate soon.

I hope it helps.

Why are you making multiple posts saying the exact same thing?

I was attacked and beaten and robbed. I wound up with several facial breaks and 3 cracked vertebrae in my neck. Then the hospital for some reason gave me haldol which my body reacted to and I ended up with NMS

Hi Justin, I hope this helps, i got NMS a tardive psychosis from lamictal 25 a very bad reaction to it

I tried Sarcosine brainvitaminz (i dont work for them) years later i was desperate.

And it reversed the damage, as this Polish study said on schizophrenia.com (may reverse damage to brain when taking upto 6 months)

I guess i was very very very lucky, but if that study sais it can do it, and it healed the very rare manic psychotic condition NMS

means something right?

Sarcosine does something on Glutamate… maybe it restored the levels in brain i had severe psychosis from the anti seizure med. With Gods help you will recover my friend. hes also your friend!

im still thinking if it might help you for the walking condition, its very potent…

please keep me updated on your situation. wish you the best!

Thanks. I have a followup appointment in a few days. I’m not sure what to expect but I’m going to be straight with the Dr and tell him about all the issues I’m still having. It’s been 3 months since I got out of the hospital and I still feel completely numb on the right side from head to toe with the exception of most of the time my right leg is in an extreme amount of pain.

In my medical records, it says I was “altered and agitated”. Of course I was, my face was broke in 8 places, 3 vertebrae in my neck were broke and I had 2 broken ribs. I’m filing a lawsuit against the hospital over it
